Scripture:Jeremiah 29 vs. 11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”
Selah moment: Quitting is NOT an option
Do you know someone who is discouraged? Who has taken a wrong turn in life? Who has let the fire go out on their hopes and dreams? A friend? A husband? A parent? A child? Maybe you are living with someone who has settled for less than their best. They’ve given up on their hopes and dreams. Maybe you have dreams in your own life that you may have forgotten or maybe you have been bit down so much that you’ve now just settled for less than your best?
Or maybe you’ve been asking yourself “does God really have abundant life for me? Yes He does! Jeremiah 29:11 says. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”
I was thinking about David and what happened to him when the prophet Samuel came to his father’s house in 1 Samuel chapter 16? Did things go well for David after he was anointed as the next King of Israel? Did David ever give up on God’s dream for him? Do you think that David ever wanted to give up and just go back to taking care of sheep? I think he probably did. But he kept pressing on. In your own life, have there been dreams that you have given up on because the way grew too rough?
One of the most valuable treasures I have personally forged from difficult life circumstances has been the ability to use my experience as a woman, to help others. Paul said, “God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God" (2 Corinthians 1:4) In other words, God does not comfort us to make us comfortable, He comforts us to make us comfort -- able, able to comfort others. Don’t let someone else quit on their dream. I believe that trials and victories give us the supernatural ability to empathise with someone going through a similar struggle. May God help us as women to sift through the difficult circumstances of life and lift someone along the way!
To make our goals and dreams come true, we need to keep going after them with the same preparation and confidence to make them come true no matter what the circumstances. It does not matter how many times we might have previously failed, just keep shooting with confidence. Trusting In God, Plus Our Best Effort, Equals Victory!
When I was growing up, back in Africa, I had, pined on my wall this little quote from Edgar Guest” When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all uphill, when the funds are low and the debts are high, and you want to smile but you have to sigh, when care is pressing you down a bit - rest if you must, but don't ever quit.
So, woman of excellence, stick to the fight, when you're hardest hit - it's when things seem worst, you must not quit, because once you learn to quit it becomes a habit.
Keep Fighting.......quitting is not an option! See you in September.
